Basic Info
Name:Christopher Graham
Birthdate:03-18
Bio

Name: Christopher Laine Graham
Age: 19
Birthdate: March 18
Birthplace: St. Peter Port on Guernsey, Britain; has lived in New Haven, Connecticut since he was 6 years old
Dysfunction: Depersonalization Disorder

Brief History: Christopher was born to a religious couple who weren't particularly fond of the idea of having children. His mother was supposed to be sterile, and so Christopher came as something of a surprise. He wasn't aborted because of his parents' pro-life belief, but he knew from a young age that their religious convictions were the only reason he was alive. He was well cared for and provided for, though his family was never one to provide hugs or physical affection or even much verbal affection. He was commended when he did well with his studies or at various sports or things, though he much preferred school and reading to sports or team activities.

When Christopher was five years old, he started exhibiting signs of severe disconnection and detachment from both the world and his ability to feel emotions.

When he was six years old, his family uprooted when his father's job was transferred, and the upheaval left Christopher more disconnected than he already had been. Christopher's transformation into someone completely removed from real life happened so slowly that nobody noticed until it was too late. It started in school when he was too busy reading to interact with people, and only got worse as he went into high school and started devouring books on philosophy and psychology and anything he could get his hands on. He had a fascination with children and infants, and a philosophical interest in the afterlife and spirits, though he's not sure why. He entered university with a view to becoming a teacher of some sort, whether it was daycare or elementary school, he didn't care. He babysat a lot and enjoyed children a great deal, probably his only real interactions being with young children.

With the new atmosphere at the university, however, and with people and professors who hadn't known him since he was a child, his mental disorders became acutely obvious, and he was sent to a psychologist at the University. It was suggested to him and his parents that he go into therapy, and in therapy they were completely unable to get out of Christopher what the root cause of his problems were, and the therapists weren't even certain of what disorder might be causing his symptoms. His disorders were causing him to have a lot of problems in school, because though he was very intelligent, he would have periods of being completely detached from the world and utterly apathetic about it, which caused problems with his grades and would make it hard for him to find a job in his preferred field in the future. It was at this point that it was suggested to his parents that he be institutionalized until they could figure out the cause of his mental issues. His parents pressured him into committing himself.

Likes: Christopher likes to be physically comfortable as much as possible - he enjoys warm rooms, soft beds or couches, fireplaces. He likes soup, especially comforting soups like chicken noodle or cream of broccoli. Christopher enjoys being outside as much as he can be, especially in the autumn and summertime, when it's sunny and temperate out. He enjoys reading a great deal, and will generally be willing to read whatever print materials fall to hand, whether it's a newspaper, romance novel, textbook, poetry book, journal - anything that can be read, he will read.

Dislikes: He really doesn't enjoy a lot of loud noises and general discordance in the room around him. Anything cacophonous or obnoxious will set him on edge and usually make him smack his hands over his ears. He doesn't like crowds of people, because they make him feel lost, though he likes individual people. He dislikes being too hot more than being too cold, but neither one makes him very happy.

Sexual Orientation: Pretty much asexual - he doesn't think about or consider romantic relationships important. However, he's quite open to suggestion and if he was led into a romantic relationship, it's highly unlikely that the gender of the other person would matter much, as Christopher would be attracted to minds rather than bodies.

This is solely a character journal for [info]amplified_rpg, and is not intended to reflect any person living or dead. Also, I am not Boyd Holbrook.
